After almost a year of not picking up a pair of knitting needles, I’ve recently rekindled my love for knitting. My timing could be better (nothing says late spring like a knitted cardigan, right?), but at least I’ll be prepared for the fall.
Initially I planned on making a summer cardigan for my daughter — then we had a week of 30 degree weather in May — so I decided to size up to 18-24 and hope that it fits when the weather turns cold (in the far distant future). With fall in mind, I ordered two balls of Lion Brand Comfy Cotton yarn in Chai Latte. I hate to admit that I ordered them from Amazon. I’m not sure why, but it feels like a sin to order yarn from Amazon. I typically buy from smaller yarn stores, but convenience won this round. No regrets on the yarn though — it’s wonderful! Anyways, on to the cardigan.

My go-to pattern maker for baby knits is agasalhosbugalhos on Etsy. The patterns are always clear and easy to understand — not to mention adorable. I’ve made a few things as gifts and they always seem to fit really well, too. This cardigan is the Calendula Baby Cardigan.

Even though I love the half open look, I added one extra button to the cardigan. I don’t want it to fly open too easily on windy days. It’s going to look so cute with a pair of baby jeans and boots (my heart is telling me yes, but my brain is telling me that a crawling baby doesn’t need boots). We’ll see what happens.
I have a few big knitting projects planned for the second half of my mat leave. I can’t wait to share them here!
Happy knitting!
Jackie
