Spring is finally here and summer seems to be just around the corner. While I love summer (who doesn’t?), it leaves me with absolutely no desire to pick up a ball of yarn. Wool and warm weather just don’t mix—period.
Without drawing this weather talk on any further, I needed a new hobby. Rather than taking up a standard summer activity—running, swimming, sports involving hand-eye coordination, etc…—I took up cross-stitch. Figures, huh?
Since I’m pretty new to this, I needed a pattern to work from. The google search for ‘modern cross-stitch’ was an oxymoron if I ever saw one, but I landed on this post from Katy Elliot and loved it.
Cross-stitch has a stigma for being stuffy, and it most definitely is at times, but I knew I could make it modern if I tried; hopefully black cloth and pastels did the trick. Maybe not, but I’m on my way! I have a bunch of projects planned now that I’ve taken up yet another needlecraft—I should finish this one first.
Happy Stitching!
